SHE. Event Indy?
SHE. Event Indy, is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to equipping Black Women entrepreneurs with the necessary tools to establish a thriving business. This is done through the SHE. Event, SHE. Event Youth Cohort/SHE. Creates, SHE.Xperience, and the SHE. Marketplace. Katina Washington, Founder & CEO of the SHE. Event Indy and the SHE.Xperience says, “She. Event Indy, our ninth annual Ubuntu Celebration event, is dedicated to community-building and is not just for entrepreneurs as we also recognize the essential role of the community. Ubuntu means, I am because we are.” SHE Event Indy is committed to providing Black-owned businesses the tools to increase their customers and revenue, learn sound business practices, build relationships and circulate their dollars within the Black community. Katina’s vision has always been to connect every Black, female-owned small business owner in Indianapolis with the people and tools needed to create, grow and sustain thriving businesses.
The annual SHE. Event Indy will be held on Saturday, September 16th from 11:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center and will be a day of shopping, networking, entertainment, entrepreneurial resources and training with Indy’s Moguls!
This year, in partnership with SHE. Event Indy, Enhanced DNA Publishing introduces “SHE. Reads”! SHE. Reads is a special section of SHE Event Indy that will feature local authors, prospective authors, those who want to meet authors and shop all things authors! In addition, SHE. Reads will feature a panel of experts in publishing, the Indianapolis Public Library and the Ujamaa Community Bookstore. Denola Burton, Founder and CEO of Enhanced DNA Publishing is passionate about developing and nurturing authors so they can achieve their goals. “Many people have goals to write and publish books but we want to ensure that not only do they achieve that goal, that they get the opportunities to get exposure for themselves and their books as well as get the opportunity to grow as an author”, says Denola.
“Through the SHE. Event Indy and SHE. Reads, authors will have an opportunity to share their books, book related products and even learn processes to have their books considered for libraries and book stores.”
Enhanced DNA Publishing has grown to publish 60 books for over 50 authors since 2018! Of those, 15 have received national recognition awards! The vision that Denola Burton, Founder and CEO of Enhanced DNA: Develop Nurture Achieve, LLC and Enhanced DNA Publishing is to develop and nurture authors and help them achieve their publishing goals. “We do this through our education programs in the Enhanced DNA Publishing Academy and our expertise in publishing based off the Independent Book Publishers Association publishing standards in which we are a member”, says Denola. The SHE. Reads is another opportunity for authors to grow and even market their books.
SHE. Reads will be highlighting 20 local authors of books from multiple genres. Each hour, we will have authors provide an overview of their life as an author and highlights from their books.
In addition to author highlights, we will have an expert panel that will provide information about the author journey, publishing, access to getting books in libraries and book stores and so much more.
